Is my red ear slider turtle a male or female?

The last photo is the only useful one. The vent seems to be beyond the carapace, which says male. But the front claws are no longer than the rear ones, which says female. My guess would be that L. is an almost-mature male. I'm 50% sure. Wait a year or two.
